The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary Medicine, in partnership with Alberta Health Services, invites applications for an Academic Pulmonary Medicine or Allergy and Clinical Immunology Physician with expertise in Asthma and/or COPD.
Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health education institutions.
The Division of Pulmonary Medicine consists of a team of four PhD, fourteen MD full-time academic faculty and three MD clinical members, offering a wide range of clinical programs in Pulmonary Medicine and Allergy. Division members have dedicated asthma, COPD and interstitial lung disease clinics in addition to subspecialty services that include tuberculosis, adult cystic fibrosis, sleep disorders and pulmonary hypertension. Division members also care for one of the largest lung transplantation populations in Canada and offer the full range of clinical supports for advanced respiratory care (i.e. in-patient non-invasive mechanical ventilation and endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS)). The Division has 2 full time and one part time allergists and offers a wide array of adult allergy services. The Division is affiliated with the Pulmonary Research Group and has PhD and MD members involved in various areas of research in airway diseases.
We are seeking a new team member to bring their excellent clinical and research expertise in the areas of Asthma and COPD to the care of patients on our inpatient ward, consultation and outpatient Medicine clinic services.
To be a successful candidate, you must hold an MD (or equivalent), have obtained the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine or Clinical Immunology and Allergy (or equivalent), and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. Candidates for the position should have the ability to develop an independently funded research program in any area related to asthma or COPD, covering any of the CIHR pillars. Experience with clinical research in this area and ability to develop a clinical research program will be a plus, but any area of research including basic science is acceptable.
As a successful candidate, you will be offered a contingent tenured or tenure-track appointment in the Department of Medicine, with an Academic rank based on your experience and qualifications. Your remuneration will be on the Academic Alternative Relationship Plan (A-ARP), which offers a very competitive remuneration package with excellent benefits.
