The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Preventive Medicine in partnership with Alberta Health Services, invites applications for a Public Health Physician to be based in the Division of Preventive Medicine. Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions. The University is currently home to 39,000 students and 15,000 faculty and staff.
The Division of Preventive Medicine is home to two Royal College accredited residency training programs, one in Public Health and Preventive Medicine and another in Occupational Medicine. Faculty members in the division engage in a range of research projects from evidence-based medicine to population health to bench research and provide clinical service in Public Health as well as Occupational Medicine.
The successful candidate will be an MD (or equivalent) with certification in Public Health and Preventive Medicine with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada or the Collège des médecins du Québec (CMQ) and will be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).
Individuals with a focus on education and training at the undergraduate medical student and post-graduate resident levels, and those with experience in the administration of training programs are encouraged to apply.
Key accountabilities of the Public Health Physician will include, but will not be limited to, leadership and administration of Public Health educational programs in the Division of Preventive Medicine, engagement in research with a focus on Public Health and Preventive Medicine, and provision of clinical service as a Medical Officer of Health.
The successful candidate will be offered a contingent tenured or tenure-track appointment in the Department of Medicine, which is in accordance with the University of Alberta Faculty Agreement, and offers a comprehensive benefits package.
Remuneration for this position is based on the Academic Alternative Relationship Plan (A-ARP). Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
