The Department of Oncology, Division of Medical Oncology at the University of Alberta in partnership with Alberta Health Services – Cancer Control Alberta (AHS) Cross Cancer Institute (CCI) invite applications for the position of Medical Oncologist.  Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty is internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions. The CCI is a free-standing integrated cancer treatment and research facility that functions as the tertiary oncology referral centre for Northern Alberta.  It has a strong record of basic and translational research as well as clinical trial activity in Oncology. Alberta Health Services is Canada’s largest and only provincial health region providing services for a population of over 3 million people.

The successful applicant will have an academic appointment in the Department of Oncology, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, University of Alberta, at a rank that will be based on years of experience. The nature of the appointment will either be as Special Continuing or Clinical Faculty and will be based on experience.

The successful applicant will join a team multidisciplinary cancer programs located at the Cross Cancer Institute, Edmonton Zone and 25 medical oncologists currently on staff working within the systemic treatment area and involved in research, teaching and patient care.  This position will be primarily clinical; however, academic interests will be accommodated where appropriate, and participation in clinical trials is expected. The Division of Medical Oncology is looking for someone with a particular interest and experience in breast and gynelogical cancers, although the successful candidate should also be comfortable working with other major tumor groups, such as lung, gastroenterological and genitourinary cancers.

Qualifications include an MD, certification in Internal Medicine, special competency in Medical Oncology (or equivalent), and eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta.
