Excellent Opportunities for Community Psychiatrists
The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, in partnership with Alberta Health Services' Clinical Department of Addictions and Mental Health, is seeking Community based Psychiatrists to expand our Community program. Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the University of Alberta has been internationally recognized as among the world's top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada's premier health-education institutions. Alberta Health Services is Canada's largest and only provincial health region providing services for a population of over 3 million people.
Our program exemplifies a multi-faceted and multi-disciplines care modality, consisting of community-based mental health services for Children, Adolescents and Adults. These services are provided through 10 community mental health clinics (108th Street, Northgate, East Edmonton Health Centre, St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Fort Saskatchewan, Morinville, Leduc and Stony Plain). Programs in the community clinics include Community Adult Assessment Treatments Services (CAATs), Assertive Community Treatment (ACT), Edmonton Early Psychosis Intervention Program (EEPIC), Intake Consultation, Inner City, and 24 hour Crisis Services (Police and Crisis Team(PACT), Inner City PACT and Rural PACT) as well as a full complement of Vocational, Housing, Recreational Services offered through Pathways Day Program and Cross Level Services.
Our partnership together with the Alberta Government’s recent investment of more than $50 million in Child Mental Health has provided for significant innovations in our approach to the care we provide. Our multi-disciplinary teams consisting of nursing, psychiatry, psychology, occupational therapy, social work, education, and speech language pathology provide education and assistance for more than 1.2 million people in Edmonton and surrounding areas.

The successful candidate will have an MD must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Psychiatry, for licensure in the province of Alberta. Candidates will be encouraged to apply for a Clinical Academic Colleague appointment with the Department of Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry.
Remuneration is based on a fee-for-service basis and is highly competitive with other North American jurisdictions.
