The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alberta currently has approximately 50 professors and plans to hire a number of faculty members to meet the growing needs of our undergraduate and graduate programs and our research-intensive institution. Applications are invited for tenure-track or tenured faculty positions at any rank in Aerospace Engineering.

The successful candidates will demonstrate expertise and research experience in the broad field of Aerospace, which would include the manufacture, project planning and policy, design, structures, controls, propulsion and aerodynamics applied to aircraft, spacecraft, wind power or unpiloted vehicles. We have two positions available and are considering candidates with theoretical, experimental or computational focus for their research.

In addition to regular faculty positions, we are considering candidates for endowed chairs and professorships, Canada Research Chairs, and NSERC Industrial Research Chair programs. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to conduct both independent and cooperative research, develop viable and productive research programs, teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in mechanical engineering, and be an active citizen of the university. Successful candidates will be joining a vibrant, multi-disciplinary community of researchers on the University of Alberta campus.

Candidates must hold a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, or related field. The successful candidates are expected to become a registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Alberta. Candidates seeking appointment at all three ranks of professor will be considered. Senior applicants with industry, government or research experience will be given hiring preference.
