The Department of Elementary Education is accepting applications for a full-time contract academic staff member for a two-year term appointment beginning September 1, 2017 or January 1, 2018.

The Department seeks an individual who can contribute to Mathematics Education, with a focus on elementary education. The Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta is internationally recognized for its excellence in research, teaching and innovative practice.

Duties will include: teaching undergraduate classes in mathematics education in the Department of Elementary Education, engagement in research relevant to elementary mathematics education, contribution to service within the University community, and contribution to professional development for in-service teachers. The individual will be affiliated with the Centre for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education (CMASTE), which broadens opportunities with local and international projects.

Applicants must have a PhD in the area of Mathematics Education, or be close to completion. Candidates must have relevant teaching experience at the K – 12 and post-secondary levels of schooling. Preference is given to applicants with teaching experiences in K – 6 schools. Candidates must demonstrate potential for scholarly productivity and the ability to design and implement professional development programs for elementary school teachers.

Salary will be commensurate with experience in accordance with the Academic Staff Teaching (ATS) Agreement.
