The Department of Educational Psychology invites applicants for a tenure-track position, at the rank of Assistant Professor, for an Indigenous/Aboriginal scholar specializing in an Indigenous/Aboriginal Counselling focus in the program area of Counselling Psychology.  Recognizing that the University of Alberta is on Treaty 6 territory, and our programs, Department and institution are committed to the principles of reconciliation, candidates must have a demonstrated and strong background in Indigenous/Aboriginal approaches to counselling and culturally appropriate approaches to assessment and/or therapy.  This could include community-based research and/or links to Indigenous/Aboriginal communities.  Applicants must have an earned doctorate from a major research university in Counselling Psychology, and evidence of a research program entailing Indigenous/Aboriginal worldviews and Counselling.  The successful candidate will teach graduate and undergraduate courses and supervise graduate student research.  The successful candidate will be either Registered with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP), or must become Registered within the pre-tenure probationary period.  Full consideration will be given to all applicants, though graduates of CPA- or APA- accredited programs will be given hiring preference.

The standard teaching load in the Department is currently 4 courses, usually 2 in the Fall term, and 2 in the Winter term.  The Department and Faculty offer a highly collegial work environment, with outstanding research and teaching support. The Department of Educational Psychology offers courses in several program areas, at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and has a predominant role in the Education Clinic:  http://www.edpsychology.ualberta.ca   The doctoral program of Counselling Psychology is accredited by the Canadian Psychological Association.
