A Research Associate position is available with the Alliance for Canadian Health Outcomes Research in Diabetes (ACHORD) Group in the School of Public Health. ACHORD is an emerging team in diabetes and chronic disease research, in Canada and internationally, of which Dr. Dean Eurich is an investigator.

Working under the direction of Dr. Dean Eurich with the Alliance for Canadian Health Outcomes Research in Diabetes (ACHORD) Team, the responsibilities of the Research Associate will include, but are not limited to:

  • Planning future research activities for ACHORD
  • Implementing and overseeing research activities already in place for ACHORD
  • Checking the analysis of the results, checking the quality of the analysis and qualityassurance on research operations, methodology, etc.
  • Supervising students, research assistants and project coordinators
  • Developing and implementing research protocols, health ethics proposals
  • Presenting research results at seminars, scientific conferences locally, nationally and internationally
  • Promoting communication with off campus collaborators and associates
  • Assisting in preparing research grants and contract proposals
  • Preparing written reports and documentation for submission to journals, grantingagencies, etc.
  • Undertaking administrative duties at a managerial level (direct supervision, budgetcomposition, etc.)

The successful candidate will have a PhD in a health-related discipline and will have completed 1-2 years of post-doctoral studies. Preference will be given to candidates with research experience in chronic disease management. The successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership within a team setting/environment (supervision of students,research assistants and project coordinators).

This position is in accordance with the Trust/Research Academic Staff agreement, has an expected end date of June 30, 2019 with the possibility of renewal, offers a comprehensive benefits package found at and annual salary ranging from $57,350 to $78,866.
