The Alberta School of Business is looking to fill a Program Advisor position. This position reports to the Program Director and works closely with the Program Administrator to ensure that a portfolio of executive development programs runs effectively and efficiently.

The Program Advisor is accountable for decision-making in the areas of client relationship management, financial management, program management and problem solving. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining and growing business with current clients; acts as the main point of contact for all current clients and program instructors; and is also responsible and accountable for all activities related to the end-to-end program management in accordance with best practices and in alignment with the vision of the Alberta School of Business, Executive Education and the University of Alberta.

Duties

  • Develops strategic plans to maintain and expand the business with current clients
  • Initiates meetings with current clients to plan program scope and format, establishes and monitors budgets and reviews administrative procedures and discuss progress
  • Collaborates with client to identify program needs and determines the requirements that must be met to accomplish those objectives
  • Negotiates with both clients to finalize contracts for services, approve invoices, maintain financial records, prepare or review final billing for the event and prepare reports
  • Collaborates with the Program Director to develop budgets and pricing for custom projects and to develop a sales and operation plan for the programming year (including related budgets) for existing clients and programs
  • Develops presentation materials for business development events, information sessions, and presentations
  • Identifies, researches and compiles information on prospective guest speakers and Executive in Residence for programs; recruits as needed
  • Organizes business development events to help promote new and current programs
  • Collaborates directly with other educational institutions in delivering joint programs
  • Represents Executive Education at networking functions, including events, conferences and tradeshows
  • Researches and develops new initiatives and implement consequent changes which are aligned with the strategic plan and are designed to meet the goals of the Alberta School of Business, Executive Education
  • Manages all activities related to programs including development and maintenance of budget, program logistics and operations, program evaluation and delegation of tasks to Program Administrator(s)
  • Provides support to Director in generating information and ideas for new business/clients
  • Assumes select responsibilities of Program Director in Director’s absence

Qualifications

  • Minimum post-secondary education in a related field; undergraduate degree preferred; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
  • 3 to 5 years of related experience
  • Experience managing relationships with clients and national level partners
  • Events planning and management experience is essential
  • Demonstrated well-developed communication and integration skills
  • Effective customer service, networking, public speaking, and sales skills
  • Familiarity with copyright and FOIPP rules as per University regulations
  • Demonstrated research, planning and administrative skills
  • Financial acumen, including budget experience
  • Experience with proposal writing is an asset
