Reporting to the Director of the Centre for Applied Business Research in Energy & the Environment (CABREE), the Centre Research Administrator is responsible for managing the Centre’s day-to-day operations and assisting the Director in administration of research activities and programs.  The Administrator’s primary role will be the administration of Centre research in electricity and oil and gas. 

This position is responsible for ensuring that the financial reporting, accounting and administrative functions are timely, accurate and maintained in accordance with University and research regulations. The Administrator will provide general direction and guidance to student research assistants to ensure research activities are stewarded in accordance with the Centre’s mandate and research objectives.

Duties

  • Assists with gathering, organizing and preparation of information/data for grant proposals
  • Collects, assembles, analyzes and summarizes data for applied research projects
  • Proofs and edits research papers, submissions and reports
  • Monitors, tracks and archives research outputs and outcomes of the centre
  • Assists with the planning, marketing and promotion of research workshops, customized presentations, and research seminars
  • Assists with the organization of events including securing space, managing logistics and communicating with event participants
  • Maintains/updates CABREE website and social media with event information and communications regarding events and activities
  • Assists with development of communications materials (on web, social media and hard copy) etc.
  • Liaises with ASOB and UofA Communications teams to ensure effective promotion of CABREE research, events and activities
  • Monitors and reviews monthly financial reports on expenditures
  • Monitors CABREE financial activity against budget
  • Prepares emails and purchase orders for hardware, software and other equipment for the CABREE
  • Assists with preparation of annual and periodic forecasts, centre declarations, CABREE business plan and ad hoc reports as required
  • Prepares and processes expense claims for Director’s approval

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree preferably in business, economic or a field related to CABREE’s activities; combinations of relevant research and education experience will be considered
  • Two to three years of administrative and operational management experience
  • Computer proficiency using MS Office as well as basic financial systems knowledge; experience with data visualization tools (R, Python) is an asset
  • Experience in research project management
  • Experience working with both qualitative and quantitative data analysis
  • Knowledge of data collection methodology an asset
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and precise documentation skills
  • Self-directed with the ability to work with minimal supervision and ability to take an initiative
